'Initial D'/'MF Ghost' x Casio Present Motorsport-Themed Edifice Watch
Taking inspiration from the Toyota AE86 and GT86 featured in the manga.
Casio Edifice, the Japanese electronic company’s line of watches made for professional careers, has partnered with Shuichi Shigeno’s street racing series Initial D and MF GHOST on a limited-edition watch based on the red and black Toyota GT86 driven by Kanata Rivington and Takumi Fujiwara’s iconic Toyota AE86 which both share the nickname “Hachi-Roku” (Japanese for “Eight-Six”),
Edifice has deep motorsports roots, serving as the sponsor for Honda Racing and Nissan‘s Nismo motorsport division. The upcoming watch is based on its high-performance ECB-2000 chronograph featuring Bluetooth mobile link and solar power capabilities as well as world time, stopwatch, and alarm functions. CORDURA® nylon straps feature the names of the five courses of street racing organization MFG’s five courses on the red canvas surface with leather tread marks lasered on the loops. The onomatopoeia “Gyaa,” commonly used in both shows is further engraved on the back of the dial and band. Additional details include a unique lug design inspired by the double wishbone suspension of the 86 GT, carbon fiber-reinforced case, metallic red bezels, and design features inspired by the car’s grille pattern and tachometer.
The Initial D x MF GHOST x Casio Edifice will be open for pre-orders November 1 and will officially launch November 11 for ¥49,500 JPY (approximately $330 USD).
