Chopard Heads To Mexico With Día de los Muertos Trio
With calavera-inspired engraving and artwork.

Chopard headed to Mexico’s SIAR watch show with a trio of watches inspired by Día de los Muertos.
First up is the 25-piece L.U.C Skull One Calavera Pop Art – the third watch in the L.U.C Skull One series – which features a bold, pop art style Mexican calavera, the symbol of the annual festival, on its dial.
The 40mm bead-blasted, black DLC stainless steel watch is just 7.2mm thick and is powered by Chopard’s hand-finished twin-barrel L.U.C 96.53-L automatic movement with 58-hour power reserve.
The final two watches are both unique pieces, starting with the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 TimeForArt Edition, which uses a 40mm case of ethical 18K rose gold as a frame for a hand-engraved white dial skull motif dial which is coated in a thin layer of silver and allowed to oxidise to accentuate the design. The dial takes four weeks to create and the skull’s mouth is home to a jumping hour window while a single hand displays the minutes.
Four mainspring barrels in the manually wound L.U.C 98.06-L movement produce an eight-day power reserve.
The final skull-centric timepiece is a unique version of Chopard’s striking watch, the L.U.C Full Strike. This ‘Día de los Muertos’ edition is housed in a 42.5mm hand-engraved and blackened 18K ethical white gold case.
The Full Strike won Chopard a Aiguille d’Or award at the 2017 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève for its sapphire gong concept.
The L.U.C Calibre 08.01-L minute repeater movement housed inside this edition features blackened hammers to carry the aesthetic from the case onto the movement while the hand-engraving covers the case, bezel, crown and clasp in “the iconography of the calavera” including skulls, guitars, flowers and skeletons.
Elsewhere in watches, Patek Philippe drops three horological heavy hitters.
