JiyongKim's SS22 Collection Is All About the Sun
Re-evaluating “Daylight Matters.”
Returning for Spring/Summer 2022, South Korean designer Jiyong Kim has delivered the latest collection from his eponymous label, JiyongKim. Centered around the power of the sun, the seasonal range re-evaluates the “Daylight Matters” theme of the label.
Inspired by sun-bleached workwear, curtains and tents, the SS22 collection focuses on the act of protecting from color fading caused by the sun to create silhouettes and details. Garments crafted with heavy-weight fabrics with drapey silhouettes have been treated to create fading effects that delivering unique layering, pleating and placement details.
Building on its dedication to sustainability, each piece is one-of-a-kind and constructed with meticulous pattern cutting from selected vintage and dead-stock textiles. While the natural sun-faded effects developed through exposure to the sun, wind and rain for months rather than relying on traditional dyeing and production methods that require large amounts of water and harmful chemicals. The SS22 collection is also designed with a timeless quality giving pieces an enduring lifespan rejecting the wasteful trend-driven nature of fashion.
