An Exclusive First Look at Pharrell's Upcoming adidas Humanrace Sichona "Blue"
We got our hands on the new basketball-inspired lifestyle sneaker from Skateboard P.
Pharrell Williams and adidas have one of the most diverse partnerships in the sneaker collaboration game, having produced everything from Superstars to their signature NMD HU, and now a new silhouette from Skateboard P has surfaced: the Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Sichona in “Blue.”
Made from adidas’ proprietary Primeknit and BOOST compounds, the Sichona is a new basketball-inspired lifestyle sneaker that, so far, has only appeared in green in the hands of Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert. And HYPEBEAST has gotten its hands on a sample version of the “Blue” iteration (note: as this is a sample, the official production model may differ from what you see above and read below).
The all-Primeknit upper is contrasted with orange-hued “Humanrace” branding that’s woven into the design and takes cues from Pharrell’s namesake skincare label. “HU” logos appear on the rear rubberized nodules that stick out like fins on the rear of the bulbous sole unit — which is filled with BOOST for good measure — and adidas’ logo graces the two-tone tongue tag.
Overall, the aesthetic is rather like a bootie, with the collar and opening allowing the shoe to stretch yet also make for a snug and cozy fit. The vamp’s Primeknit is woven in such a way to offer ventilation and to secure the 3M-speckled rope laces in place, which weave through the upper for a minimalistic look.
Rounding out the shoe is the sole unit which almost seamlessly flows out from the upper. A curvaceous, orthopedic approach has been applied, making the Sichona one of Pharrell’s most comfortable shoes to date — for reference, it’s close to the Crazy BYW X. On the outsole, the “Humanrace” moniker has been both embossed and debossed for a textural, grippy finish, while the insole features the collaborators’ quintessential body map print. Lastly (and this may just be us), but the shoebox is also giving us some major adidas FYW vibes, especially with the styling of “Sichona,” which could explain the sole unit’s stylistic choices.
While the inaugural green colorway is said to be a friends and family-exclusive, this blue colorway is more likely to see a wider release. We expect the Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Sichona to release before the end of the year, but stay tuned to HYPEBEAST for official information as news unfolds.
