The month of August has rolled over into its second week, and several of the footwear industry’s most notable sportswear brands are supplying consumers with a surplus of new releases. In the coming days, grail-status collaborations, exclusive launches and striking GRs will hit the market from brands such as Jordan Brand, Nike, New Balance and Vans, but before we dive into those, let’s first give a rundown of all of the action that transpired in the world of kicks last week.

HYPEBEAST‘s weekly Sole Mates series proceeded with an interview with Paperboy ParisJames Dridi in which he spoke to us about his deeper affinity for the New Balance 920. On the news tip, Nike came out strong as closer looks at Drake’s all-white NOCTA x Hot Step Air Terra surfaced, Travis Scott was spotted out rocking a potential Air Trainer 1 Mid collab, more images of sacai and fragment design’s two-pronged Nike LDWaffle capsule emerged and official photos of the Quartersnacks x Nike Dunk Low collaboration popped up. Its Beaverton neighbors over at Jordan Brand brought up some compelling items as well such as detailed photos of Aleali May’s Air Jordan 14 Low “Fortune”, in-depth shots of the Air Jordan 1 “Atmosphere” and a full look at the fairway-ready Eastside Golf x Air Jordan 4 collab showed face.

While the official release date of DONDA is still unknown, Kanye West made it a point to stay connected to the culture by dropping further looks of more YEEZY offerings such as the adidas YEEZY BOOST 700 V2 “Mauve” and the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “MX Rock”. Elsewhere under the Three Stripes umbrella, the adidas x IVY PARK Rodeo Collection was unveiled along with Offspring’s adidas ZX 420 collaboration. Reebok inserted themselves into the conversation as well by uncovering a KANGHYUK x Reebok Classic Leather SRS built from recycled airbags, a Rita Repulsa-inspired Instapump Fury colorway and a Kamikaze II “Batik Blue” makeup.

Did we get you all caught up? Perfect. Check out this week’s 10 best footwear drops here below, and when you’re all wrapped up head over to HBX to check out even more new footwear styles.

sacai x Nike Blazer Low “British Tan”

Release Date: August 10
Release Price: $120 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: To this day, Chitose Abe is still one of the more powerful collaborators under the Nike umbrella. And her footwear catalog is being further advanced with a brand new sacai x Nike Blazer Low “British Tan”. Most of the upper on this collaborative makeup is drenched in its titular tone, but bold hits of “University Red” pop out through the underlying Swooshes, throat and laces. Down under, the midsoles are executed with a bright white outer.

JJJJound x Vans Sk8-Mid

Release Date: August 10, 11 and 12
Release Price: $150 USD
Where to Buy: JJJJound
Why You Should Cop: After releasing a two-pronged low Archie II collection Dr. Martens, JJJJound is revisiting its partnership with Vans to produce a trio of collaborative Sk8-Mids. This marks the second project that the two imprints have worked on and follows up their trio of Old Skools that dropped back in 2017. Each suede-constructed take is understated and comes with simple two-toned color-blocking. A black colorway is releasing alongside brown and a green iterations, the latter of which hark back to the palettes of their inaugural capsule.

Nike Dunk Low “Sail Multi-Camo”

Release Date: August 11
Release Price: $110 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Dunks continue to be rolled out in many a different colorway, but this forthcoming iteration is surely one of the more playful versions to drop during Summer ‘21. The uppers are presented with clashing camo patterns that alternate between “Sail”, “Vintage Green”, orange and yellow, and come fashioned with a mis-matching aesthetic.

Todd Snyder x New Balance 327

Release Date: August 12
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: New Balance
Why You Should Cop: NYC’s very own Todd Snyder is reuniting with the New Balance crew to produce a new footwear and apparel collection. Storytelling has always been a major component of his projects with the Boston-based imprint, and so the inspiration for this newest team-up comes from Snyder’s affinity for farmer’s markets. The designer reimagined the New Balance 327 with “Pineapple”, “Pomegranate” and “Wheat” palettes and crafted Summer-ready seersucker Market coats which are essentially hybrid outerwear pieces that are half chore coat half blazer.

Nike Dunk Low “Seoul”

Release Date: August 12
Release Price: $110 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS KR
Why You Should Cop: South Korean-inspired footwear is nothing new to the Nike Inc. imprint as it has rolled out the extremely rare Air Jordan 3 “Seoul” along with collaborations with Kasina and G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE. And now this catalog is slated to grow by one pair in the form of the Nike Dunk Low “Seoul”. South Korea’s flag is the inspiration for these kicks and that’s reflected by the fact that it’s placed on the left foot’s tongue and the accents that drop off on the Swooshes, overlays and treading are ripped directly from it. To further express its cultural motif, the Nike branding on the heels is spelled out in the Korean language. These are dropping as a Korea exclusive.

New Balance 574 (BILLY’s Tokyo exclusive)

Release Date: August 12
Release Price: $130 USD
Where to Buy: BILLY’s Tokyo
Why You Should Cop: Of all of the sneaker retailers across the globe, few receive as many exclusive releases as BILLY’s Tokyo. And after usually unveiling an exclusive Vans pair, it’s switching gears and introducing a fresh New Balance 574 that’s inspired by Japanese street style. Uppers are crafted with a workboot-esque tan suede material and offset by dark navy blue mesh on the tongues, collars and mid-foot.

Air Jordan 1 High “Seafoam”

Release Date: August 13
Release Price: $170 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS and Foot Locker
Why You Should Cop: Jordan Brand is showing some major love to its women’s audience this season by releasing a bevy of new retro offerings, one of which is the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Seafoam”. Its presentation is executed with clean white quarters, toe boxes and collars while its Swooshes and overlays are dialed to its nominal hue. Laces are primarily done up in a gray hue but come accented with orange trimming to provide a more playful punch of color.

Travis Scott x fragment design x Air Jordan 1 Low

Release Date: August 13
Release Price: $150 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Travis Scott, fragment design and Jordan Brand are ready to release the second part of their iconic collaboration which involves an Air Jordan 1 Low and matching apparel. The kicks are somewhat similar to the previously dropped Air Jordan 1 High makeup, but deviate with “Black Toe”-esque color-blocking and come packaged with creamy Swooshes and laces. Tongues are decorated with the OG Nike Air branding and come seated next to a fragment design tab, while the heels split between Cactus Jack branding on the left and Jordan’s wings logo and fragment’s bolt insignia on the right.

Nike SB Dunk Low “Catalonia”

Release Date: August 14
Release Price: $100 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS EU
Why You Should Cop: The Nike SB division tends to pull inspiration from many different sources when it comes to its footwear proposals, and next in line for the skateboarding sub-label is the launch of the Nike SB Dunk Low “Catalonia”. The color-blocking that’s present here mixes between rich maroon, navy and yellow hues, all of which speak to the signature colors of FC Barcelona — the Nike-sponsored soccer club that recently made headlines as Lionel Messi decided to depart the team after being a star roster member for 21 seasons.

Air Jordan 1 High “Pollen”

Release Date: August 14
Release Price: $170 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS and Foot Locker
Why You Should Cop: Aside from La Flame and Hiroshi Fujiwara’s highly-acclaimed AJ 1 Low collab, the Air Jordan 1 High “Pollen” is arguably the second best release of this week. Sporting a buzzy color combination of yellow and black leather paneling, the kicks are a nod to two important pieces of Nike history — the OG Nike Dunk High “Varsity Maize” from 1985 and the Dunk High “Wu-Tang” from 1999. OG Nike Air branding decorates the tongue, while ball-and-wings logos grace the lateral side of each collar in a solid black.
