Blood Orange Shares Soundtrack for HBO’s Therapy Series ‘In Treatment’
Entirely written, composed and produced by the artist.
R&B artist Devonté Hynes, who goes by Blood Orange, has released the soundtrack for the HBO original series In Treatment. The drama series follows a Los Angeles-based therapist as she helps patients navigate their problems, with its fourth season focusing on issues that have arisen during the pandemic.
In an announcement on Instagram, Hynes, who is an accomplished classical composer, wrote that he had “composed, performed, mixed & produced” the entire 24-song soundtrack himself, and that it’s available for streaming on all platforms.
Yesterday, July 1, the artist also shared the chilling single “Born to Be” in the trailer for Netflix’s Beckett. Starring John David Washington, the action movie pits an American tourist visiting Greece in the middle of a political conspiracy after he wakes up from a car crash to find that his girlfriend has mysteriously disappeared. The film is produced by Hynes’ frequent collaborator Luca Guadagnino, who directed Call Me By Your Name, as well as the coming-of-age HBO series We Are Who We Are, which Hynes soundtracked last year.
On the same day, the industrious artist debuted the music video he had directed for Mykki Blanco’s “It’s Not My Choice.” The track, released last month, comes off of Blanco’s upcoming album Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep and also features Hynes’ vocals.
In other music news, G Herbo has dropped the new album 25.
