BigPlanes Creates His Largest LEGO Plane at 40,000 Pieces
This LEGO Emirates A380 Superjumbo weighs close to 100 pounds.
LEGO plane specialists BigPlanes has just unveiled one of his most ambitious builds ever — building a 40,000-piece Emirates Airbus A380 Superjumbo.
Creating the world’s largest passenger airliner in LEGO form had its challenges and took hours of labor to complete the seven-foot-wide project. Weighing almost 100 pounds, each Rolls-Royce Trent turbofan is powered by LEGO Power Functions motors while the flaps and spoiler are controlled via smartphone using the LEGO Powered UP system. Flight control surfaces are powered by a single LEGO XL motor at the base of each wing.
The inside is just as detailed as the exterior as BigPlanes has included the plane’s interior that can be revealed via a modular roof. Each class is properly represented with different cabins, staff, and passengers. Check out his introductory video above and watch part 1 and 2 for the process of building such a large LEGO model below.
