After mixing different patterns for the 2021/22 home kit,
The purple covers the majority of the jersey, while alternate red and blue stripes run down each side of the shirt as a further nod to the Blaugrana colors. The purple is also used as a message of women’s empowerment, chosen for its historical ties to the struggle for gender equality. This theme is further reinforced by the phrases “tots units fem força” and “totes unides fem força” — which translate as “together stronger” in both female and male verbal forms — that are embossed within the jersey.
Unveiling the kit, Barcelona and Spain women’s footballer Aitana Bonmati said, “I think our younger fans are going to love it, it’s so fresh and different from anything I’ve ever seen. In every look, you find more intricate details and it’s the perfect uniform for representing this amazing club with its rich history.”
Barcelona’s away kit is available now for Nike members via the Nike web store, and will launch for full retail on July 20.
In other good news for Barcelona, Lionel Messi has signed a new five year deal with the club.
