Similar to many, AMBUSH designer Yoon Ahn has been working remotely in her Japan home for her latest Spring/Summer 2022 collection. This season, the designer has taken great inspiration from Japan and the surrounding natural environment around Tokyo. The collection sees Ahn charter a journey from the city’s hustling and bustling streets to the zen gardens and lusciously green wilderness, by marrying technical styles with sleek silhouettes.

Drawing from the brand’s latest category of fashion, AMBUSH WKSP, Ahn utilizes technical fabrics to serve as a fundamental for this season’s repertoire. Ahn partnered with graphic designer Hagihara Takuya for nature-inspired prints, displayed across a series of t-shirts, hoodies and swimwear. Other garments including cargo pants, sweaters and crop tops in subdued sand and maroon tones, paired with bright solar power yellow hues ensure that any outfit for adventure will be eyecatching for all.

Ahn continues to explore and add couture techniques into everyday ready-to-wear staples, incorporating hand-looped jersey skirts reminiscent of the silhouette of flowers as well as feather-like twisted knit wool dresses into the collection. This season sees AMBUSH utilize crochet mesh knit techniques accented in vibrant colors to further highlight the brand’s psychedelic inspirations.

SS22 embodies comfort in tailoring and materials, focusing on linens, cottons and knits to ensure modern, relaxed silhouettes. It continues the tradition of mixing Japanese craftsmanship with its Italian suit tailoring, bringing a contemporary aesthetic to vintage shapes. Subdued pieces in earthy tones, such as the kimono suit jackets with a belted blazer mesh the brand’s heritage together, while accessories add the pop of detail in valiant poppy red and blithe blue.
