Jordan Brand Honors Beijing's Streetball Culture With This Air Jordan 6 Low "Dongdan" Colorway
Paying homage to the annual Sunset Dongdan streetball tournament.
While not as globally recognized as soccer, basketball is a highly-revered sport in different pockets of the globe, especially when it comes to the sport’s streetball culture. After crafting a full-blown collection for Paris’ Quai 54 festivities, the Jordan Brand family is paying its respects to Beijing and manufacturing a footwear collection that pays homage to the city’s Sunset Dongdan streetball tournament. The collection is made up of an Air Jordan 35 Low, Hydro Slides and an Air Jordan 6 Low, the latter of which has just surfaced by way of early imagery.
Inspiration for these kicks is drawn from the sunset afterglow of Dongdan Stadium — the venue of the aforementioned event. Underlays miimc the aesthetic of the sky’s afternoon transition, and come prepared with stark white overlays. Stark black accents also get brought in to cover the tongues, heel counters and the midsole molds. If you pop over to the heels, you’ll notice that the traditional Jordan branding has been swapped out for the Sunset Dongdan insignia. Additionally, the outsoles feature multi-colored reflexology-inspired patterns and come housed in a translucent case.
Early reports have these slated to drop on August 29 in China for $190 USD.
In case you missed it, Michael Jordan’s ‘Space Jam’ Air Jordan 11 sample sold for $176K USD.
