Up Close With the Air Jordan 12 "Royalty"
A dash of regal style arrives on Michael Jordan’s 12th signature sneaker.
The rollout of Jordan Brand‘s fall 2021 retro collection is in full swing, but sneaker leakers are already looking ahead to the Jumpman’s holiday 2021 collection, one piece of which is the Air Jordan 12 “Royalty.” Essentially an Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” with gold detailing thrown in for good measure, the “Royalty” offers an undeniably regal take on an Air Jordan classic.
Any Air Jordan 12‘s bread (no, not “Bred”) and butter is the material and color contrast between its mudguard and upper. Here, the former piece is done up in black pebbled leather while the latter is presented in white tumbled leather. Black laces add further to the yin and yang of contrast, while touches of gold appear on the tongue’s Jumpman branding, the top two eyestays and the midfoot’s debossed badge. Moving to the heel, there’s a black tab with white and gold text plus Michael Jordan‘s #23 present on the lower half. Zoom Air is loaded in the two-tone midsole, with carbon fiber midfoot plates and black rubber outsoles completing the look. Of note is that this isn’t the first time a “Royalty” color scheme has been used by Jordan Brand: 2017 saw the release of an Air Jordan 4 “Royalty.”
Expect the Air Jordan 12 “Royalty” to release on October 9, pending official confirmation from Nike. MSRP will be set at $190 USD. Early pairs are also available now via GOAT.
