T-Pain Reveals Origins of “I’m ‘N Luv (Wit A Stripper)" Was a Joke
“My homeboy was tryna save strippers in the club.”
T-Pain revealed in a recent interview that his famed 2005 hit “I’m ‘N Luv (Wit a Stripper)” originally started as a joke.
Speaking in a recent episode of Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’, the Nappy Boy Entertainment founder shared that the song’s origins were based on a friend. “My homeboy was tryna save strippers in the club,” T-Pain said. “The song was a joke. I was literally making fun of him.” He continued, “We was just in the studio f*cking around and Big Boi saying it was dope and I said yep.”
“I’m ‘N Luv (Wit a Stripper)” was released in 2005 as part of T-Pain’s debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga. The track eventually became one of his most celebrated releases, peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Elsewhere in music, an expanded edition of the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World soundtrack is set to release this July, including Brie Larson’s performance of “Black Sheep” as Envy Adams.
