PlayStation has just announced a new partnership with digital communication platform Discord.

The partnership comes following a minority investment from Sony Interactive Entertainment during Discord’s Series H round of funding and hopes to bring the latter’s community-building aspect into the PlayStation ecosystem. The service currently boasts 140 million global users every month, and its move into Sony’s console will no doubt expand its user base even further. Details regarding exactly what the partnership will entail remain scarce at this point, but the two companies hope to launch new features by the beginning on 2022.

“Together, our teams are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network,” said PlayStation’s president and CEO Jim Ryan in a statement. “Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.”

In other gaming news, Neil Druckmann has spoken about developing The Last of Us Part III.
