Phife Dawg Posthumously Collaborates With Illa J on New Single "French Kiss Deux"
Set to appear on the Five Foot Assassin’s upcoming record, ‘Forever.’

The late Phife Dawg and Illa J, the younger brother of J Dilla, have teamed up to deliver the brand new single “French Kiss Deux.”
Produced by Potatohead People, the cut clocks in at nearly four minutes and features live instrumentation that harks back to the classic sound of A Tribe Called Quest. Phife and Illa J use the track to pay homage to all the beautiful sights in Montreal, with “French Kiss Deux” set to appear on the Five Foot Assassin’s upcoming posthumous album, Forever.
“It was such an honor to work on this track with Phife,” Illa J said in a statement. “It’s bittersweet. I really wish he was here to celebrate the release of this song. But I know he’s here in spirit, and I’ll never forget him spittin’ his verse over the phone to me. That will always will be a special moment.”
The announcement of Forever coincided with what would have been Phife’s 50th birthday. An exact release date is yet to be announced, but fans can expect the new single and its predecessor ,“Nutshell Part 2” with Busta Rhymes and Redman, to appear on the tracklist.
