Phife Dawg Posthumously Releases "Nutshell Pt. 2" Visual With Busta Rhymes and Redman
The Five Foot Assassin’s estate is working on the release of his posthumous album, ‘Forever.’
A visual for the late Phife Dawg‘s “Nutshell Pt. 2” with Busta Rhymes and Redman has been released to commemorate the fifth anniversary of his death.
Directed by Tony Reames, the accompanying music video features performance shots of the Five Foot Assassin and appearances from Busta Rhymes and Redman — the track’s collaborative artists — fellow A Tribe Called Quest member Q-Tip, Consequence and the single’s producer, DJ Rasta Root.
“Nutshell Pt. 2” is the sequel to 2016’s “Nutshell” which was produced by the late J Dilla. Phife Dawg’s estate is set to release his posthumous album Forever, which is a record he was working on before he died. “He worked really hard to complete his album before he transitioned, and he was ready to share an album that was near and dear to his heart with his fans,” the artist’s family said in a statement. “His fans meant the world to him.”
DJ Rasta Root added, “Even though the family, the estate, and myself are completing Forever, I am so proud of Phife on this one. He always spoke about giving back to his fans, they were very important to him. I know he would want them to have this album as an extension of himself.”
