J. Cole has officially revealed that his newest musical project entitled The Off-Season will finally be available for the world to hear on May 14, 2021. The Dreamville MC recently took to Twitter and playfully wrote “Is this thing on” which immediately sparked the notion that something big was going to be announced, and sure enough, it was just moments after that he unveiled the release date for the highly-anticipated project.

“Just know this was years in the making”, Cole states in his social media announcement post, essentially confirming that he’s been putting in a ton of hard work into his forthcoming material. The album serves as a follow up to his last solo record KOD which dropped on 4/20 back in 2018. It was first teased back in December 2020 via a handwritten list of albums and other projects including that of It’s a Boy and his The Fall Off.

J. Cole last dropped new tunes back in July 2020 under the EP Lewis Street which featured the tracks “The Climb Back” and “Lion King on Ice”.

Given that it’s been nearly a year since the last time he blessed our streaming services, the expectations are certainly high for this new album.

Elsewhere in music, New York City’s The Governor’s Ball Music Festival just announced its 2021 lineup.
