Hermès Arceau Space Derby Takes Brand's Love of Equestrian Pursuits to New Heights
From silk scarf design to watch dial.
Hermès has dropped three versions of its equestrian-inspired Arceau watch featuring the brand’s silk scarf Space Derby design painted onto their dials.
Designed by illustrator and film director Ugo Bienvenu, Space Derby was inspired by 20th Century American comic book superheroes and depicts a fantastical chariot race through the cosmos, against a backdrop of unfamiliar planets and constellations.
The image is painted onto the dials and built-up in layers before being kiln-dried.
The Arceau Space Derby is offered in three distinct references; two 41mm 18k white gold automatics with aventurine dials, which are limited to 12 pieces each and a 38mm 18k white gold moonphase with pink opaline dial and a diamond-set bezel, which is limited to 24 pieces.
All three watches come equipped with Hermès’ H1837 4Hz automatic movement, with a module added to the moonphase, and follow hot on the heels of the brand’s critically praised H08 men’s collection.
The Arceau Space Derby collection is available now via Hermès, priced £52,560 GBP ($73,000 USD).
