Jordan Brand Reveals Denny Hamlin's Latest Air Jordan 1 Racer PE
The track-ready makeup is equipped with fireproof suede uppers and tonal embossed patterns.
From McLovin’-inspired Air Jordan 35s for Blake Griffin to a barbershop colorway for Jayson Tatum, we’ve seen a handsome batch of player exclusives spring from Jordan Brand this year. The common thread here is that these have all been made for the hardwood, and so the brand is shifting its focus to the race track and generating a special Air Jordan 1 Racer Pe for Denny Hamlin — marking the professional driver’s third official colorway.
Like its forerunner, this latest installment is engineered for performance on the speedway. Base layers are equipped with fireproof suede materials and come dressed with and a embossed pattern that utilizes #11 — his car number — and the Jumpman logo in tonal fashion across the mid-foot, collars and toe boxes. The shoe strings are also reinforced with fireproof materials, and his team colors of purple and orange accent along the flaps, laces and suede overlays. Swooshes on the side panels are substituted out for oversized Jumpman logos in stark black.
“Nine times out of ten, if you see me on the street, I’m wearing Air Jordan 1s,” said Hamlin when speaking on his newest kicks. “This Air Jordan 1 Racer PE is special for a lot of reasons. Jordan Brand actually built the heat shield into the heel of my shoe, so my feet never get too hot. This is also the first time my racing shoe has the Air Jordan wings logo on it, and of course, there’s the Jumpman logo.”
