Nike's Next Huarache OG Release Asks, "Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?"
Looking back on the original 1992 campaign.

Tinker Hatfield‘s Nike Huarache was released in 1991 and in the following year of ‘92, the Swoosh brand launched its seminal “Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?” campaign. Now, Nike looks back on this landmark advertisement with the release of its latest Huarache (which also happens to be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year), giving the OG silhouette a “Black/White” makeover alongside some historic touches.
In an unlikely turn of events, we’ll start with the shoe’s outsole because that is where all the action is happening. On the underside of the sole unit is the aforementioned phrase “Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?” which appears in white using Nike’s signature blocky font. This nod to the archives is joined by commonplace Nike and Swoosh branding, and a semi-translucent black outsole.
For the rest of the shoe, engineered mesh has been used to construct the base, most notably appearing on the toe box before turning into neoprene on the rear at the heel. In between this, you’ll find tumbled leather panels overlaying the base hitting up areas such as the toe box, sidewalls and mid-panels, and the eyestay section.
At the rear, a semi-translucent black “NIKE”-branded heel clip can be found, alongside “AIR” branding that has been debossed into the heel of the midsole unit. More Nike branding can be seen on the tongue, while a set of 3M-speckled laces round out the design.
Take a look at the Nike Huarache OG in “Black/White” above. The pair will drop at retailers such as Goodhood on May 29, costing $163 USD.
