Coutié Upgrades the Vans Style 73 with Custom "Ideas That Connect" Graphics
The German outfit brings its signature flair to an under-the-radar model.

The German craftsmen at Stuttgart-based outfit Coutié are back again with another custom Vans project: they’ve upgraded the under-the-radar Style 73 for a new design dubbed “Ideas That Connect.” Coutié may be most known for its work on the Old Skool — its two most recent projects were the Old Skool “Baby Blue” and the Old Skool “Shadow and Sun” — but this new project shows that the tenured customizers are not afraid to step off the beaten path and rework a lesser-known silhouette.
Standard Style 73s offer a trim shape with a T-toe overlay, an unadorned medial side and a foxing stripe-less midsole for an ultra-clean look, so Coutié has added flair with custom branding and graphic hits alike. The lateral side’s V logo is done up in a bright yellow and contrasted by yellow/black rope laces, while a white peace sign is stamped on the lateral forefoot and Coutié’s C logo is placed on the heel. The shoe’s most notable custom detail, however, is the white block text on the rear half of the lateral side, which reads “Coutié S/S 2021, Ideas That Connect, Stuttgart, Germany.” Traditional tongue tags, white heel tabs and white contrast stitching finalize the look.
Coutié’s custom Vans Style 73 “Ideas That Connect” is available now via the Coutié webstore. Its MSRP is set at $138 USD.
