Bang & Olufsen is the master of minimalistic and hugely impressive home sound equipment — and more often than not it’s trying to always better the sound experiences it has to offer, with the likes of its Beolab 28 being a good example of this. Regardless of size or price point, B&O’s products are worthy of shouting about, and the new Beosound Explore has a lot to say.

It’s a new portable speaker for those who like to explore the great outdoors, and in true B&O form, nothing has been overlooked in the speaker’s making. It’s lightweight, waterproof, and durable, or as Bang & Olufsen SVP of Product Management Christoffer Poulsen says, “We created Beosound Explore to be our toughest speaker that can withstand the outdoor elements. The speaker is dust and waterproof, embodied in a scratch-resistant type 2 anodized aluminum surface. The exceptional sound quality for its size makes Beosound Explore the perfect companion for any adventure.”

There are a number of brilliant design functions included in the speaker, for example how it features an aluminum carabiner so you can attach it to a bag while hiking. The cylindrical shape has grooves in it to make it easy to hold, while a weight of 631 grams only helps this.

Playback is expected to last for up to 27 hours, and sound will be dispersed all around you as the speaker grille is cut in a 360-degree direction, and no matter what the conditions all the interface options will be usable (even with gloves on) thanks to its high visibility and durability.

Available in colors such as “Black Anthracite,” “Green” or “Grey Mist,” the speaker is available now in Bang & Olufsen stores or online, and costs just £179 GBP (or $199 USD in the U.S.).
