Papa John's Is Giving Away 10,000 Pizza Slices for National Bitcoin Pizza Day
Celebrating the day Laszlo Hanyecz traded 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John’s pizzas in 2010.
Papa John’s is celebrating big for all pizza fans out there this Saturday, May 22. The pizza chain has officially announced that it is giving away 10,000 slices of pizza to the first 50 customers at their Jacksonville Papa John’s location.
The chain is commemorating the historical transaction of Laszlo Hanyecz, who infamously traded 10,000 BTC for two Papa John’s pizzas on May 22, 2010. Thanks to last week’s record-breaking price of $60,000 USD for a single bitcoin, Business Insider reports that Hanyecz’s trade is now worth $613 million USD today.
The pizza joint is now doing its part to commemorate the notorious transaction by offering free slices to any customer who asks for the Bitcoin Pizza Deal at each of its Jacksonville Papa John’s location. Customers will have a chance to get a free bitcoin-inspired large pizza, as shown above.
The deal is for one day only, so be sure to hit up your nearest Jacksonville, FL Papa John’s on May 22.
