Russell Athletic Recruits Nicole McLaughlin and Dao-Yi Chow's O-1 for Upcycling Project
In time to celebrate Earth Month.
After working with PUMA on a biker jacket made of goalkeeper gloves and custom upcycled sports bras, Nicole McLaughlin has now revealed a new project. McLaughlin, alongside Dao-Yi Chow and his O-1 multidisciplinary platform, has partnered with Russell Athletic for a small capsule of upcycled items to celebrate Earth Month.
Every piece in the collection is constructed from overstock Russell Athletic items, which have been reworked and given a new life by the two creatives. Chow and O-1 have created a hoodie, which mixes a classic gray cotton construction with a technical red section, while McLaughlin has produced two different sized tote bags and an eye-catching pair of slides made from upcycled hats.
Speaking about the collaboration Dao-Yi Chow said, “We’ve been a big fan of Nicole’s work for a long time. Her energy around design and upcycling is exactly what the industry needs more of. It’s not about making more “green products” it’s about changing attitudes around consumption and challenging the perceptions of products and their life cycles.”
