IYSO's SS21 Footwear Collection Proposes the Perfect Dad Sneaker
The emerging Korean label has concocted a tempting blend of premium textiles and weighty silhouettes.
One of the benefits inherent to emerging sneaker brands is their ability to innovate free from the oversight of far-removed CEO figures or shadowy boards of directors, giving creatives the necessary freedoms to cook up whatever their wildest imagination entails. Korean label IYSO is one such brand, delivering quirky shapes that draw from heritage but are entirely their own.
For Spring/Summer 2021, the brand is dishing up new iterations of its made in Korea “Uranus” and “Aerow” silhouettes; the former is distinguished by a heel tab and combo mesh/suede upper, while the latter is a touch heftier and opts for mesh/grain leather. In both, but especially the Uranus, panels are layered and warped atop of each other to affect a work-in-progress feel, though the premium materials ensure a refined finish.
Offered in coffee-tinged colorways, monochrome makeups and a hit of navy, the designs are all especially versatile. Of course, these aren’t anonymous, conformist kicks: they’re granted extra presence by their beefy uppers and unique outsoles, which divide layered chunks of rubber across the foot to bolster traction and comfort, thanks to the three-part cushioning system.
Shop IYSO’s new HBX’s site for $203 USD (Uranus) and $213 USD (Aerow). Interestingly, IYSO opts for a unique sizing system related to centimeter measurements, offering sizes that approximate a US 8 to 11.
