Almost 50 years after Steve Jobs‘ handwritten job application letter was filed, it has now resurfaced at auction selling for a whopping $222,400 USD. The 1973 letter was released for auction online at Charterfields Auctions.

The auction house has certified the document to be the first job application by the former Apple CEO, although the single-page application does not mention the company nor the position Jobs was applying fo. It matches Jobs’ timeline as he first began his career at Atari Inc. in 1974, but it is uncertain whether or not the application is for Atari Inc. itself. The job application is reportedly completed around the time he dropped out of Reed College in Portland, Oregon.

Charterfields describes the letter as “a single page signed job application form 1973 is being offered for sale by auction. In the questionnaire, Steve Jobs highlights his experience with ‘computers and calculators’ and special abilities in ‘electronic tech or design engineer digital.’”

The document appears to have sold in good shape, with minimal creasing and just light stains and an old clear tape on the top of the page. The flaws are to be expected, given the age of the document. This is not the first time the letter appeared at auction, however; it sold for $175,000 USD in 2018.
