As Tobias Birk Nielsen‘s ISO.POETISM imprint continues rolling out its function-focused Spring/Summer 2021 collection, the brand is offering a closer look at the new lineup. Informed by rich dye treatments and experimental material selection, SS21 is a distillation of the Tobias Birk Nielsen design ethos, a snapshot of where the Copenhagen-based brand stands in 2021.

Dubbed “INSTINCTS,” the collection serves up a plethora of rugged silhouettes abetted by clever details. Balmacaan coats, for instance, are finished with carabiner-laden belts, fleece jackets boast three-dimensional cargo pockets and tactical vests sport modular buckles that allow the wearer to customize the fit and length. Throughout, wide-brimmed hats, cargo jackets, jersey hoodies, cargo pants and even quilted coats feature special dye treatments that leave splotchy, warped color atop their surface, unique to each item.

Retaining the collection’s monochrome palette, these finishings lend depth to graphic sweaters and paneled outerwear alike, contrasting starkly against the garments rendered in tonal slate, sand or black. Below, ISO.POETISM’s hefty sneakerboots lend weight to the baggy cargo pants and slim leggings that pervade the collection, promising utility regardless of terrain.
