Drawing from a different tact than Spring/Summer 2021, F/CE Fall/Winter 2021 takes on a very practical approach. Blending climbing gear with tailored garments, the Japanese label unites two key elements of its own design ethos: timeless suiting and utilitarian apparel informed by functional fabrics.
Fleeces, puffers, elasticated pants and touches of militaria crop up throughout the FW21 collection, as F/CE is wont to do. These quilted aprons and liner jackets mingle with classic trench coats, knit sweaters and plenty of double-breasted blazers, all cut relatively loose so as to most easily come together in cohesive looks. Even the more pared-back looks will feature outdoorsy accents, like climbing belts and weatherproof ball caps, often partnered with more sober pieces, like raffia hats and wool scarves. Of course, F/CE is perhaps best known in the West for its hardwearing bags, return in ample supply, from tiny crossbody sacoches to oversized totes.
Peruse the current season wares on F/CE’s website, which range from home goods to wearables to the brand’s signature bags.
Elsewhere at Rakuten Tokyo Fashion Week, UNDERCOVER debuted its blockbuster Evangelion collaboration and MISTERGENTLEMAN tinkered with hybrid apparel.
