Cardi B Becomes First Woman Rapper to Earn Diamond Single
“Bodak Yellow” has officially sold 10 million copies.

Cardi B is officially the first woman rapper in history to earn a diamond single.
The news was announced by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on social media, confirming that the rapper’s 2017 single “Bodak Yellow” has officially sold 10,000,000 units ”Congratulations to @iamcardib, the first female rapper to achieve a RIAA single award! #BodakYellow @AtlanticRecords,” the trade organization tweeted.
Brooklyn Johnny, a longtime collaborator of Cardi, also took to Instagram to share a video of the rapper seeing the diamond plaque of “Bodak Yellow” and the five-time platinum plaque of “WAP” for the first time ever. Cardi is evidently shocked by the news as the clip sees her inspecting the diamond plaque and double checking if it was actually certified by the RIAA.
The certification of “Bodak Yellow” arrives less than a month after Ms. Lauryn Hill became the first woman rapper to earn a diamond-certified album. The RIAA announced that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill officially sold 10 million units to go diamond, putting her up with the likes of MC Hammer, OutKast, Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac.
Congratulations to @iamcardib, the first female rapper to achieve a RIAA 💎 single award! #BodakYellow @AtlanticRecords https://t.co/D4gDxJorkR
