More High-End Eminem Vintage T-Shirt Remakes Surface in Japan

As one of the world’s best-selling and best-known rappers, Eminem enjoys an undue level of support across the globe. Japan is especially fond of Slim Shady, it seems; it apparently wasn’t enough that one brand was creating high-end remakes of Em’s vintage tees because another basics specialist has now tossed its hat in the ring as BY-WEAR launches its ESSENTIALS Eminem series.

Apparently unrelated to the prior effort by Insonnia Projects, BY-WEAR’s time-consuming shirt, sweater and hoodie designs nevertheless share quite a bit of overlap in the designs it has elected to reprint. There’s The Marshall Mathers LP, Slim Shady LP The Eminem Show and even Anger Management tour designs on hand, but BY-WEAR has also included a few new selections, which include an old promo shot in front of a car and the cover art of Em’s divisive Revival. To further distinguish the shirts, they feature smaller iterations of the printed graphics.

BY-WEAR’s real claim to fame is its extreme level of quality, making all of its 8 or 13 oz garments to exacting standards in partnership with Wacoal, which also crafts READYMADE‘s basics. Double (T-shirts) and triple needle (sweaters) lock-stitch finishing ensures a sturdy finish, while an “empty spinning” technique twists the cotton yarn by force of air, yielding a thick yet cushy finish.

Rubber and inkjet prints are then applied by the same specialist that works with COMME des GARÇONS before the garments go through an intensive washing process. The end result is a series of faded tees, sweaters, mocknecks and hoodies that boast an extreme attention to detail in both the sourcing and finishing. Even the finished prints are specially processed to achieve a cracking that recalls genuine vintage.

Visit BY-WEAR’s website to peruse the Eminem T-shirt collection, which ranges in price from ¥10,780 JPY to ¥23,650 JPY (approximately $98 USD to $215 USD). Future rap T-shirt collections will apparently launch on BY-WEAR’s site in the near future, the brand asserts.

As if anyone needed further proof of Eminem’s music dominance, his Curtain Call just celebrated 10 continuous years on the Billboard 200 chart.
