Maison Margiela and Reebok's Classic Leather Tabi Is Back in Black (and White)

Maison Margiela and Reebok‘s Classic Leather Tabi is back in black (and white). After debuting in January via a hand-painted “Bianchetto” colorway, the high end split-toed take on Reebok’s classic trainer is opting for more simple looks, ones that put the shoe’s famed shape — and its modified signature detail — on full display.

Built of supple Napa leather, each upper features a fully monochromatic build that’s centered around the split toebox. Due to the no-frills nature of the designs, branding is largely kept to a minimum. The only visible exception is a co-branded Margiela/Reebok tongue tag that diverges from the tonal palette by offering a dash of white on the black shoe and a sprinkle of black on the white shoe. Each pair replicates this graphic on its insoles, is rounded off with a standard EVA foam midsole and comes with a special pair of Tabi socks. In an interesting footnote, each was originally introduced in the ’80s: Margiela debuted its Tabi toe in 1988 and Reebok first released the Classic Leather in 1983.

The Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic Leather Tabi will release in “Black” and “White” via Maison Margiela and Reebok‘s webstores, plus stockists like HBX. The MSRP for each is set at $300 USD.
