New Balance has taken the initiative to unleash its 2002R silhouette in a plethora of new colorways this season, and there’s no indication that this will be coming to a halt anytime soon as the lifestyle model has just revealed a duo of atmos-exclusive colorways. These two iterations have surfaced shortly after the silhouette was dressed with a “Year of the Ox” motif to commemorate Chinese New Year.
If there’s anything to point out here, it’s the fact that each take relies heavily on neutral tones to wrap most of the ground, but lean on vivd accents to play supportive roles.
The first makeup entitled the “RF” colorway is anchored by navy blue mesh undertones and comes seated with muted olive suede overlays atop the toe cap and mid-foot. Along with those elements comes construction jacket-esque orange hits that peek out down the throat and out from the aforementioned toe tips. Sliding down under is a natural white midsole that comes prepped with exposed heel cushioning that is dunked in forest green.
Its release sibling skews towards the lighter side of the color wheel as its base is mostly covered in a bright white. From there, hot pink and navy accents accompany, the former tapping the heels, “N” logo borders, toe boxes and rear midsole, while the latter spreads to the tongues, mudguards and front ends. Natural white midsoles and all-black treading bring together its look.
