On-Foot Look at the Upcoming Union x Nike Cortez
Crafted with canvas uppers, double heel tabs and cork midsoles.
After already having a successful 2021 of Air Jordan 4 collaborations in celebration of its 30th anniversary, Union is already in the process of plotting its next plans of action on the footwear front for next year. Aside from its Air Jordan 2 team-ups, the streetwear boutique is confirmed to also be connecting with Nike for Dunk Low offerings and Cortez installments, the latter of which has now emerged by way of on-foot imagery. Due to the fact that the Nike Cortez is a staple of Los Angeles’ sneaker culture, it certainly makes sense why Union would elect to reimagine this model.
For this impending design, Union discards the usual smooth leather uppers of this silhouette and delivers a completely new look and feel. The base is formed with a beige canvas material and is decorated with teal, brown and pink stripes across the lateral and medial sides. Buttery tan suede overlays are planted across the toe boxes, quarters, collars and heels and come mated with bold pink accents atop the Swooshes, tongues, double heel flaps and lower throat. In terms of branding, you can find bold yellow Union tabs positioned on the forefoot, the usual Nike branding atop the tongues and heels and Union’s signature Frontman logo on the exterior flaps. Moreover, the midsoles have been fashioned with a cork material which elevates its look even further.
No release date has been announced just yet, but you can likely find these dropping sometime in 2022 via Nike and Union.
