Shortly after Marvel greenlit a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the film’s director Destin Daniel Cretton has now spoken up about his interest in bringing onboard renowned martial artist and actor Jackie Chan.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, Cretton said that having Chan star in one of his films is “a lifelong dream” of his and that he’d love for the actor to take part in the upcoming Shang-Chi sequel. “Yeah, let’s put that out there,” he exclaimed. Of course, no concrete talks have taken place yet and no particular casting information has been released either, although Simu Liu will return as the titular kung-fu-oriented superhero alongside his sister Xialing, played by Meng’er Zhang. Chan himself hasn’t responded to the new comments from Cretton either, so it’s not entirely impossible for him to join the franchise.

As for the film itself, not many details have been revealed yet about the sequel given how far apart they tend to be in order to make room for the rest of the MCU timeline, so fans of the original should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
