Mac DeMarco Delivers Somber Cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”
Released with a visual that sees a walking Christmas tree find its home.
Mac DeMarco is continuing his holiday tradition with a cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
The Canadian crooner adds a somber and jazzy mood to Bing Crosby’s 1943 Christmas favorite, while light drums and holiday bells support the piano synth under DeMarco’s vocals. He also shared an accompanying music video for the cover, which sees a walking inflatable Christmas tree enjoying an outdoor stroll and eventually finding its home with the other Christmas trees.
Over the past few years, DeMarco also released covers of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” for the holiday season. His solo full-length releases have taken a backseat, however, with his last studio album dating back t0 2019’s Here Comes the Cowboy.
