Extra Butter Takes the Saucony Shadow 600 Down the Rabbit Hole
Celebrating ‘Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland’ and the White Rabbit.
Extra Butter has linked up with Saucony for a new take on the Shadow 600 silhouette, taking influence from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and celebrating the White Rabbit character. The White Rabbit is referenced through the sneaker’s color palette, as well as details that nod to metaphysical idea of going “down the rabbit hole.”
The sneaker sports a white base across its premium leather, pig suede, and sport mesh upper. This is offset with touches of red and blue, as well as reflective detailing a white rabbit graphic on the tongue, replacing the Saucony “running man” logo. Additionally Extra Butter has added a hidden reference to the original inspiration behind the phrase “further down the rabbit hole,” while the colorful box nods to the psychedelic undertones to the story.
The Extra Butter x Saucony Shadow 600 is due to release alongside a range of apparel and accessories, which continue the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland theme. Including a T-shirt, hoodie, sweatpants and a deck of cards, the pack features a ’70s-inspired set of psychedelic white rabbit graphics.
Launching the collaboration, Extra Butter’s Bernie Gross said:
“In an age of information overload and technology influenced social behavior, we’re seeing a shift in questioning one’s purpose, identity and even how one can alter reality and truth around them. We’re seeing people utilize the web to dig deeper into knowledge, while others look to disconnect and explore within their subconscious for spiritual or psychedelic enlightenment. Though this shoe design is simple at first glance, there are nuances that elevate the design and speak to willingness to discover.”
Extra Butter’s take on the Saucony Shadow 600 is available alongside the apparel capsule from the brand’s Lower East Side and Long Island City locations, as well as its web store. A global release is due at select stockists on January 7.
