Tackle the Runway, Not the Pitch, With COMME des GARÇONS' Nike Premier Heels
Nike’s football boot from 1992 gets a heeled makeover courtesy of Rei Kawakubo, and it’s available at DSM now.

Rei Kawakubo is a fashion pioneer, never one to shy away from making something daring for her collections at COMME des GARÇONS (or any of its sub-brands). Now, fresh from the Fall/Winter 2021 runway show “Landscape of Shadows,” comes the collection’s most outlandish moment: the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Premier.
But unlike the Nike Premier, or the Tiempo Premier as it was first called when it debuted in 1992, this isn’t a football boot as you know it. While the smooth, quilted leather appears decorated with strategic stitching to give the toe that quintessential football boot aesthetic, the shoe has been reinterpreted under the CDG lens, resulting in it becoming a pair of heels.
While not quite a kitten heel, the Premier sits atop a single heel that’s made from hard-wearing shiny black-and-white plastic, like you’d find on a football boot. The design continues as on the underneath you’ll find a lightly studded sole unit.
This divisive pair combines more classic football boot touches from the padded Nike Swoosh on the medial and lateral mid-panels to the paddle ankle, where you’ll find Nike deeply embossed into the leather. A signature footie-esque tongue is adorned with flat waxed premium laces in their respective tonal color, while inside, COMME des GARÇONS’ signature branding sits alongside the Swoosh emblem.
No branding can be found from CDG on the exterior, but given the shoe’s eyecatching look, we don’t think you need it. COMME des GARÇONS’ Nike Premier retails for £475 GBP (approx. $633 USD) and is selling out in sizes fast on the Dover Street Market London website. Pairs will also be available in stores worldwide.
