RHUDE‘s Fall/Winter 2021 collection is an extension of founder’s Rhuigi Villaseñor luxurious aims, expanding the brand’s oeuvre beyond premium ready-to-wear into proper lifestyle garments. The offering also debuts RHUDE’s new womenswear lineup, a fully fleshed-out counterpart to the well-established menswear that initially put the Los Angeles-based label on the map.

The seasonal collection is realized with slouchy outerwear stacked atop boxy base layers and pooled trousers, the latter realized by way of tapered jeans, elasticated hem jogger pants and trim cargo pants. Villaseñor’s fascination with tailored clothing yields an assortment of suiting-adjacent styling for men and women alike, balancing the double-breasted blazers and shapely slacks with layering pieces channel RHUDE’s grungey ethos: shearling jackets, mohair cardigans, western-style shirting and revamped varsity jackets are all on hand.

Automotive culture is a major inspiration for the standout capsule co-created with McLaren that hybridizes the British manufacturer’s Formula 1 legacy with RHUDE’s louche, laid-back silhouettes. What results is a mash-up of collegiate cool (intarsia knit rugby shirts) with road-ready essentials (jumpsuits and a racing jacket), spearheading the next generation of style-conscious race gear.

“My team and I at RHUDE couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration with McLaren — it’s a dream project,” Villaseñor offered in a statement. “This collection will pay homage to Bruce McLaren and the iconic history of the McLaren F1 team. Inspired by the iconic paddock fashion worn by Formula 1 legends throughout history, the McLaren x RHUDE collaboration will reimagine the sport and modern luxury into an innovative and progressive collection.”

“McLaren Racing’s collaboration with RHUDE is an exciting step as we continue to engage a global fanbase,” continued Ben Priest, senior vice president, partnership development of Americas at McLaren Racing. “We’re delighted to collaborate with Rhuigi as he draws inspiration from our iconic brand history and reimagines trackside style for this set of collections.”
