After reworking the 1461 silhouette for Chinese New Year, Dr. Martens returns with fresh options on the 1460 boot and two pairs of 1461 shoes with the Keith Haring Foundation. Debuting for the Spring/Summer 2021 season, the partnership marks the footwear mainstay’s first collaboration with the late legendary pop artist. All pairs feature Haring’s unmissable illustrations complete with two bright character lace charms.

The original 1460 boot was made with smooth leather enhanced with black graphic detailing of Haring’s cartoonish sketches and figures across the uppers. Contrasting the monochromatic look is a strip of his bold colorful figures on the heel. As for the 1461 shoes, each one is also made from smooth leather and embellished with one of his most iconic designs. One of them is an homage to his angelicbaby imagery with white coloring while the second is an all-over print spotlighting more of Haring’s instantly recognizable illustrations and bold line work.

“As part of a series of collaborations with radical artists, DM’s are shining a spotlight on Haring’s legendary artwork. The New York-based artist’s colorful, cartoonish graphics were deep-rooted in social activism,” said Dr. Martens in a statement. “His publicly-minded pieces questioned authority whilst being accessible and upbeat. There was always more than met the eye.”
