Dr. Martens Reworks the 1461 for Chinese New Year
Featuring touches of jade.
Following Nike, adidas and The North Face‘s lead, Dr. Martens has become the latest label to unveil a special Chinese New Year release. The heritage footwear label has focused on its low-cut 1461 silhouette with added touches of jade, a symbol of good luck and good fortune in China.
Constructed from black leather, the shoe features jade detailing including a pattern inspired by the wave movement on the sea. This section is a reference to the role of water in Chinese culture, where it symbolizes wealth and it continuing to flow. Additionally, Dr. Martens has added a jade pendant to the laces, attached with a red knot.
Take a look at the Chinese New Year 1461 from Dr. Martens. The special-edition shoe will be available from select Dr. Martens locations, priced at $1299 HKD (approximately $167 USD).
