Nike Air Force 1 React "Naija" Salutes the Nigerian National Football Team
With bright prints and bold colors inspired by the Super Eagles’ recognizable kits.
Affectionately known as the “Super Eagles,” the Nigerian National Football Team is respected the world over for its breathtaking play and memorable kits. Recently, Nike Sportswear has been spotlighting the Super Eagles with multiple footwear styles — an Air Max 95 and Air Presto have both appeared in recent weeks — and the next piece of this commemorative effort is now arriving via an Air Force 1 React “Naija.”
Originally introduced as a product of Nike‘s D/MS/X sub-label, the Air Force 1 React is an updated take on the classic Air Force 1 Low, and here it’s dressed in a Super Eagles-centric mix of forrest green, neon green and black. The build is split between mesh and leather, and a trifecta of African-style patterns are used: triangular on the mudguard, top eyelet and heel, wavy on the eyestays, heel collar and tongue tag and perfectly imperfect squares on the lateral and medial heel counters. Each of these pieces is accented further by varying green shades, and the main hit of branding is provided by a large outlined midfoot Swoosh that drops down into the midsole.
Tongue tags and medial heels alike feature “Naija” spellout graphics, heels add a Nike Air hit and the cushy green React insole presents the Nigerian National Football Team crest. Embossed green Air hits on the midsoles and multi-shade outsoles round off the look.
The Nike Air Force 1 React “Naija” is set to release via the Nike webstore on October 1. The MSRP is set at $120 USD.
