The Air Jordan 1 “Bio Hack” is one of the most exciting launches from Jordan Brand’s Fall 2020 release schedule. The limited-edition style, which dropped last week, is loosely inspired by UNDEFEATED’S Nike Dunk High NL collaboration from 2005. In our latest unboxing video, we get a closer look at the brand new model while comparing the design to its predecessor. We found both the OG sneaker and the recent drop on eBay, whose extensive sneaker platform offers some of the most sought-after shoes on the market, ranging from classic grails to the latest hot releases.
Inspired by Japan’s capital city, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Bio Hack” features color blocking that recalls UNDEFEATED’s Nike Dunk High NL collaboration from 2005. The leather and suede upper brings together an eclectic mix of colors, including rustic earth tones, eye-catching vibrant hues and a lone pop of metallic silver on the signature Swoosh. As for the Nike Dunk High NL “UNDEFEATED” — now considered a bonafide grail 15 years after its initial release — the sneaker provides a slightly stiffer hand-feel than the Jordans. Featuring a turquoise calf skin leather makes for a soft tongue and toebox while the more rigid leather makes up the wine-colored heel piece and collar flaps.
A side-by-side comparison of the two shows that, while distinct in silhouette and branding details, the sneakers share design elements such as a light turquoise toebox and a mint green midsole that hints at the new model’s inspiration point. That said, there are clear differences between the two, most notably the construction. The Dunk is unlined, hence the NL for “no liner,” which makes it rather unique in Nike’s back-catalog. The lack of thick padding gives the Dunk a sleeker profile but makes it feel slightly more rigid on-foot than the “Bio Hack.”
Take a closer look at the two models in the unboxing video above and head to eBay to cop the Air Jordan 1 “Bio Hack,” the Nike Dunk High NL “UNDEFEATED,” or whatever grail you currently have your eye on.
