Unity and adidas Skateboarding Celebrate LGBTQ+ Skate Community With New Collection
New takes on the Continental Vulc and Coronado, plus a full capsule of apparel.
Unity and adidas Skateboarding have come together for a free-spirited collection of skate shoes and apparel. Modeled around Unity’s “Don’t Be Afraid of Who You Are” motif, the offerings simultaneously celebrate skateboarding’s DIY spirit and queer/trans community.
Apart from its message of love and inclusivity, Unity is known for its signature illustrations that are hand-drawn by co-founder Jeffrey Chung. The collection’s two shoes — a navy suede Coronado and white leather Continental Vulc — relegate these colorful doodles to the insoles, opting for stark uppers. However, they’re front and center on the apparel. A reversible track jacket features one brilliant all-over print side that’s accompanied by a matching pair of shots, and one more toned-down black side. There’s also a jersey and hoodie with a multi-person drawing, a peach-colored short sleeve button up shirt, a long sleeve tee and a hankerchief to round out the offerings.
The Unity x adidas Skateboarding collection is set to release on the adidas webstore and at select global stockists come August 28. The Coronado is priced at $75 USD, the Continental Vulc is priced at $85 USD, and MSRPs for the apparel have yet to be announced.
Elsewhere in the world of skate footwear, HYPEBEAST is posting an interesting question: who is the Louis Vuitton skate shoe for?
