Disclosure Taps Kehlani and Syd for Latest Single "Birthday" and Surprise "VIP Remix"

Disclosure‘s long-awaited new project ENERGY is just days away and is the first full-length album from brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence since 2015’s Caracal. The GRAMMY-nominated producing duo continues to churn out enticing singles with surprising star-studded features. Their latest is no different. Today they release “Birthday” featuring Syd and Kehlani, a relatable track centered around the ongoing back-and-forth of whether or not one should call their ex on their birthday. Disclosure even dropped the “Birthday (VIP Remix)” on the same day adding an even more upbeat vibe to the otherwise somber track.

“Birthday” follows the duo’s debut single “ENERGY” with a mesmerizingly strange workout video, “My High” featuring slowthai and Aminé and “Douha (Mali Mali)” with Malian singer-songwriter Fatoumata Diawara. Disclosure’s ability to enlist some of the world’s most ambitious and original talent and still make everything mesh so well together is a testament to their singular talents. “Birthday” manages to bring out the best from Syd’s smooth vocals (and serves as another reminder that we need another Syd solo and The Internet album in the near future.) Kehlani continues her hot-streak following her sophomore album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.

Earlier this year, Disclosure also teamed up with Khalid for “Know Your Worth” and a remix featuring rising Nigerian stars Davido and TEMS. They offered some house-fueled sounds with their surprise Ecstasy EP.
