Kehlani Delivers Sophomore Album 'It Was Good Until It Wasn't'
Featuring James Blake, Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, Lucky Daye, and more.

Kehlani’s road to fame has never been mandated by normal standards. Initially grabbing the public’s attention by reaching the finals of America’s Got Talent with her former band Poplyfe in 2011, the R&B songstresses’ evolution since is undeniable — from covering the likes of Queen to now putting out some of the most forward-thinking R&B in the pop music realm. After delivering an exceptional musical entree in the form of her 2017 debut album SweetSexySavage, later expanding her artistic range with 2019’s While We Wait mixtape, the Oakland native has now returned with her sophomore album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.
On the 15-track record, Kehlani serenades fans with an armament of lustful narratives and jazzy underpinnings, offering up dark and sultry sensibilities that highlight her reinforced direction. For the project, she’s tapped a load of heavy-handed cameos from the likes of Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye, and James Blake, all of which help in conveying her R&B eclecticism. On the project, audiences will also find contributions from producers Boi-1da, Andrew “Pop” Wansel, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s go-to producer G. Ry, K BeaZy, and many more.
