Nike Honors Kobe Bryant's "Mamba Mentality" in New Short 'Better'
Narrated by Kendrick Lamar.
Nike is honoring Kobe Bryant‘s legacy with a new short film. Inspired by the late NBA legend’s steadfast work ethic, the video “celebrates the universal relevance of progress and highlights Kobe’s prolific desire for improvement.”
Dubbed Better, the video runs at a minute and a half, narrated by Kendrick Lamar. “Kobe taught us to be better,” notes Lamar, as the video reels through clips of different points in Kobe’s life on the court. A snippet of Kobe saying “you wake up every single day to get better today than you were yesterday” is heard after this, kicking off a sequence of short fragments about self-improvement narrated by Lamar: “Better dreamer. Better waker. Better Stretcher. Better Walker. Better Talker.” The rapper wraps up the video with “Just be better,” illustrating the importance of striving for improvement — values Kobe called “Mamba Mentality.”
