Tony Hawk Does His Dream Trick at The Berrics
Striving to improve even at the age of 52.
No doubt one of the most talented and inspiring skateboarders the world has ever seen, Tony Hawk continues to live up to his reputation even at the age of 52. Always striving to improve his craft, the legendary athlete recently joined The Berrics to do his dream trick: “a backside shove to backside bluntslide coming backside 180.”
“I don’t anticipate this to come easy, or at all, but I want to do it and we’re here,” Hawk says. The almost three-minute clip that ensues documents a montage of his failed attempts as the pro skater gets closer and closer to achieving his goal, taking breaks in between his tries to discuss his approach and reflect on what he needs to improve. After what seems like a hundred tries, he finally lands his dream trick, coming out victorious once again in true Tony Hawk fashion. “It’s how every single one felt going into it,” he says. “I never want to do it again.” He also added that he had thought about attempting the trick before, but knew it would take a lot of trial and error. “I tried that trick the day before the NBD contest and I was like ‘This is going to take me way more than an hour so I better not risk it.’”
