The Teaser for Netflix's 'Hill House' Sequel 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' Showcase a New Cursed Mansion
Just in time for Halloween.
Netflix has shared an official teaser trailer for The Haunting of Bly Manor, the follow-up installment of Mike Flanagan’s (Doctor Sleep) Hill House miniseries from 2018. The show is set in 1980s England and the teaser above features several haunted house troupes, including possessed dolls, abandoned wells, grand architecture, and strange orphans. According to the official synopsis:
From The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy comes THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, the next highly-anticipated chapter of The Haunting anthology series, set in 1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.
The Haunting of Bly Manor is partly based on a novel, similar to Hill House, and Bly Manor serves as the setting of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw. However, the studio said it’s largely “based on the works of Henry James,” which means the series may delve into several other written works from the director.
The Haunting of Bly Manor will arrive on the streaming service on October 9.
