Courteney Cox to Reprise Role as Gale Weathers in 'Scream' Reboot
The fifth installment in the beloved slasher series.

Courteney Cox is set to return as Gale Weathers in the upcoming Scream reboot.
Spyglass Media Group and Paramount confirmed the news and announced that filming is expected to begin later this 2020. Cox joins her former co-star David Arquette as he also reprises his role as Sheriff Dewey Riley, however, a plot is yet to be revealed.
Directorial duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett aka Radio Silence will helm the film, while co-writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will be responsible for the script. Original Scream writer and co-creator Kevin Williamson will also be part of the film as executive producer.
The fifth installment in the Scream series was announced in late 2019. The original title was released in 1996 and was the highest-grossing slasher film in the United States until 2018’s Halloween. It followed Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), a high school student who becomes the target of a masked killer dubbed as Ghostface. Prescott continues to be the main character in Scream 2 but is taken over by Arquette’s Dewey Riley and Cox’s Gale Weathers in Scream 3, then Emma Roberts’ Jill Roberts in Scream 4.
