Luxury menswear destination MR PORTER has revealed its 171-piece multi-brand collaboration titled “Gone Surfin’,” a series of exclusive capsules that nod to the tradition of surf culture all around the world.
15 brands have been enlisted by MR PORTER for the collaboration. Those include: ahnah, Birdwell, Faherty, Go Barefoot, James Perse, Miansai, Mollusk, Noon Goons, Outerknown, Peyote Bird, Pilgrim Surf + Supply, Reyn Spooner, Saturdays NYC, Sonic
Editions, and The Elder Statesman.
The capsules cover all kinds of garments to satisfy any surfer. For example, Saturdays NYC brings cozy hooded sweaters and seaside-appropriate board shorts, while The Elder Statesman has you sorted for sartorially-conscious shirts. There’s also a range of sunglasses from ahnah, and comfy trousers from the likes of James Perse.
Speaking about the capsule, MR PORTER’s buying director, Sam Kershaw, said, “there are few reoccurring style inspirations that capture our imaginations quite like the surfer and the surf lifestyle…if you look back to [the] 1960s and 1970s, the surfer lifestyle was considered counter-culture.”
“Each of these brands have surfing in their DNA. From heritage brands such as Birdwell and Reyn Spooner, who have been manufacturing wares since the 1960s, to newer players including Outerknown and Pilgrim Surf + Supply, each partner has contributed to the evolution of surfer style.”
Joining the multi-brand collaboration is a curated selection of natural skincare products from Salt & Stone, as well as Laird Hamilton’s book, Fuel Up. The fashion industry’s fixation with surf culture shows no sign of slowing down: Dior recently unveiled a surfboard in collaboration with Shawn Stussy.
