New 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' and 'Warzone' Trailer Reveals Season 5 Release Date
Alongside information on three new Operators being introduced next season.
Activision and Infinity Ward released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, which introduces players to a new faction being introduced called Shadow Company and reveals the release date for its upcoming fifth season. The Shadow Company comes from Modern Warfare 2 and will be available as a faction for both games.
“An elite PMC, Shadow Company operates outside the boundaries of the original Armistice,” says Infinity Ward in a blog post. “Forged from the fires of in-fighting between the Coalition and the Allegiance, Shadow Company has a framework and agenda all of their own. Ostensibly Allegiance Operators who have grown impatient with Coalition progress under the command of Captain Price, Shadow Company is a splinter group formed without compromise, ready to take the war directly to Mr. Z and into Verdansk and deal with terrorist threats directly. All experts in their field with formal military experience, this trio is prepared to change the current experience of Verdansk.”
Although there aren’t many confirmed details about Season 5, Infinity Ward has provided more information about the three new operators it will introduce to the games. The Shadow Company trio includes Rozlin “Roze” Helms (formerly Jackals), Velikan, and leader Marcus “Lerch” Ortega. Roze joins Shadow Company after migrating from the Allegiance faction Jackals. Velikan wears “full body armor for protection in battle and to hide his identity,” leaving little to confirm about the operator. Lastly, Lurch hails from Plano, Texas, and is known for “his enthusiasm and success in regards to eliminating the enemy.”
There is speculation Season 5 will introduce plenty more changes, including the possibility that the Warzone map as we know it will be nuked. There was a recent tease from the Call of Duty Twitter handle that hinted the Stadium, which has remained one of the only inaccessible buildings on the map, may finally open. Many believe players will able to finally access the area, loot the location, and battle inside of it.
Check out the trailer above and play Season 5 when it arrived on August 5.
